Ballyboher

Standing Stone

I took a quick trip around some megalithic sites in south Wexford, I had visited a lot of medieval sites recently so It was great to visit a few megaliths. My first port of call was this monster of a stone at Ballyboher, it stands 2.7 metres high and is 1.45 metres wide at the base, along the NE-SW alignment. The stone leans to the north east at the top, see top image. It stands on private ground, inside an all weather horse gallop, so permission is needed before visiting. It is a real stunner, a superb start to the day.
