Ballyquin

Ballyquin Ogham Stone stands at almost 2.5 metres high, although the stone is quite weathered the ogham is still very legible. I had not previously seen a picture of this particular stone so when I paid a visit I was delighted to see such a huge ogham stone. The inscription reads ' CATABAR MOCO VIRICORB'. Macalister, R.A.S. Not far from this site is Ballyquin megalithic tomb, a small portal tomb. This site is also close to Drumlohan Ogham stones.

Situated: About 3 kilometres south east of Carrick-on-Suir, take the R677 south from Carrick into Waterford, after around 2 1/2 kilometres you come to Piquet's Cross Roads take a right here, the ogham stone is standing behind a gate post approximately 200yards down this road on your right hand side.
