Broadleas

Stone Circle

Also known as the pipers stones this wonderful boulder circle can be seen from the R411. In places the stones are almost contiguous and this circle is believed to be a transition between kerbed chambered tombs and open stone circles. The top picture was actually taken from the road on my first visit. This circle consisting of 39 stones is positioned on a slight hill and approximately 100 feet across. The trees growing around the circle are all sacred to the Celts, Ash, Holly and Thorn, I have always thoroughly enjoyed visiting this endearing circle.

Situated: From Ballymore Eustace take the R411 to Hollywood, after about two and a half kilometres you come to a crossroads the Circle is in the field to your right. Be careful sometimes there is a bull in this field.
