Callahy Standing Stone

Callahy

Standing Stone

This large monolith is located in the front garden of a private bungalow just 400 metres from the centre of Tuamgraney. We were passing through Tuamgraney on our way to Holy Island (Inishcaltra) and decided to visit this stone and St Coelan's Well further west of here. It proved quite easy to find because we could see the stone from the main road peeking up over a large hedgerow. The stone stands over two metres high and almost 1.25 metres wide. The lower half has split in two, giving the impression there are two stones.

Behind the hedgerow

Situated: From Tuamgraney take the R352 west towards Bodyke. The standing stone is in the corner of a garden about 400 metres down this road on your left.
