I particularly loved the location of this megalith. The stone stands in the grounds of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Darrara, a quite beautiful setting. The stone must be at least 2 metres tall and about 1.4 metres wide. The monolith seems small in my images as it is dwarfed by the surrounding trees and the large rural church. Not far from here is Lisnagun Fort and Souterrain Passages, a reconstructed ring fort. You may have to get permission from Teagasc, agricultural college to visit the fort.
Situated: From Clonakilty take the N71 east, after 1 kilometre take a right turn onto the R600, then 2 kilometres down this road take a right for Darrara. Drive one kilometre to the Crossroads and park at the Church.
