Inishnee Medieval Church On Inishnee Island stands the ruin of a small early medieval oratory dedicated to St Mathias. All that remains of the oratory are the south wall and the low scant remains of the other walls. There is a flat lintelled doorway in the centre of the south wall and an ambry is present in the interior of the wall. To the northeast of the oratory is a ruined leacht mounted with a badly worn cross slab. The views toward the twelve bens from here are simply stunning. Although the island is now accessible by bridge, Inishnee still exudes a wonderful timeless atmosphere. |
