I have drove through Kilmacanoge on my way to Wexford many times and often thought about visiting this megalith. This time I made sure I stopped. The monolith is located between the Little and Great Sugar Loaf on the grounds of Glencormac United FC. Thankfully it is not as close to the pitch as the Loginsherd Standing Stone in Co Wexford. It stands 1.58 metres in height and almost 0.6 metres wide by about 0.3 metres thick.
A small piece appears to have broken of the NW side of the megalith. I was delighted by the beautiful colours of the shale stone in the afternoon sun and was only sorry I hadn't visited sooner.
Situated: Heading south on the N11 turn left for Glendalough at Kilmacanoge. After crossing the N11 take the left turn onto Quill Rd just before the T-Junction. Stay left at the fork. Glencormac United Football ground is about 700 metres down Quill Rd on your right.
