Bunduff

Holy Well

The Holy Well at Bunduff is still venerated today- many coins and offerings have been left at the modern shrine. The well itself is at the western end of a large cairn. It was customary at many wells for the pilgrim to leave a stone at the well and the cairn has formed over time. Another fine example of this is the holy well at Gleanncholmcille. We were sorry we had arrived here so late, the light was fading fast, as further down the field towards the coast is another Holy Well known as Shavers Well. We will definitely call back here in the future.

Situated: Easy. From Cliffony in Sligo drive north on the N15. After 5 kilometres you will cross the border into Leitrim at Bunduff Bridge. Take the first left. 50 metres down here the well is sign posted on your left. Walk 100 metres straight down the field.
