Holy Well

Situated on Barrack Street in Tullow is this well-maintained holy well. It is obviously dedicated to the Virgin Mary, as the well house bears the inscription "Our Queen and Our Mother" A series of steps lead down from the street to the well. The top of the white-washed walls and the hood of the well house are painted blue. Information about the holy well is hard to come by, but I have discovered that a Patron was held here on the 8th September up until about 1800. If anyone has any further information about this site please e-mail jim@megalithicireland.com.

Situated: From the bridge in Tullow on the N81, head north and take the first left. The well is about 250 metres down here on your left.
