Banagher Megalithic Complex Stone Circle (NW) To the north-west of the passage tomb at Banagher is a bronze age embanked stone circle, only seven stones on the western side of the circle remain. The embankment is approximately sixteen metres in diameter internally with the circle set against the inner edge. The tallest of the remaining stones, pictured below centre, is situated at the south of the circle, it stands 0.9 metres in height. The image below was taken looking NNW towards Slieve Glagh. The bank is only 0.5 metres in height and about 4 metres wide, but like the circle it has been mostly levelled on the eastern side. At the centre of the circle is a modern trigonometry point.
The image below was taken roughly from the SSW looking cross the circle to some wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The passage tomb and SE circle are to the right of this image. |
