Cloonsharragh / Cluain Searrach Stone Row This stone row is delightfully situated on the eastern slopes of Mount Brandon and offers stunning views of Brandon Bay. Three of the original five stones are still standing. They are aligned in a WSW-ENE direction and are orientated with the rising sun at summer solstice. The image below was taken from the north-west side of the row looking across the bay towards Stradbally Mountain.
The tallest stone stands 2.75m high and is situated at the ENE end of the row, the stones decrease in height from east to west. The two prostrate stones lie at the WSW end of the row. They have been lying prostrate for over a hundred years and are now partially buried. |
